As a regular contributor to The Times and Sunday Times, I have been proud to dig out some unusual stories and be the first to report on certain subjects in the UK media.

These include:

A family travel piece about the Atlantic Riviera, on the Pays de la Loire coast. It featured a visit to the Plage de Monsieur Hulot, and my editor forwarded an email from a reader who had planned his whole birthday trip on the back of the article, having been desperate for such information for years. I was so touched! Read it here.

Philippe Starck’s new hotel in Metz, the Maison Heler, with its rooftop mansion and very quirky design. My article meant The Times was the first UK newspaper to report on the hotel. Read it here.

Using my food and drink knowledge of Burgundy, I planned this boat trip through the region with my family to show how you can eat like a king on a pauper’s (or travel writer’s) budget! Read it here.

I was the first to write about the incredible new structure at the Chateau des Pères in Brittany. It was so much fun to stay there, but even more fun to write about the experience for The Sunday Times. Read it here.
