The Tour de France’s Grand Depart in Yorkshire was one of 2014’s key events, and we couldn’t let it go by without doing something special. To tie in with our feature on the route through the county, I commissioned a special cover from artist Caroline Appleyard which ran on our subscriber edition, and retail copies in Yorkshire. It was the first time another country had appeared on the cover of FRANCE Magazine, which gave us a strong PR story.
Knowing the cover would be a desirable image, I also asked Caroline to adapt it slightly for a limited edition poster version, which we sold to readers through the magazine. They sold out within a few weeks, as readers rushed to get hold of this unique souvenir of the exciting event.
